How Oklahoma withholding works
Oklahoma's three-bracket structure for 2026
Oklahoma trimmed its bracket structure to three bands for 2026: 2.50% at the bottom, a middle rate, and 4.50% at the top. Taxable income is figured after the $6,350 single-filer standard deduction. Because the top rate is moderate and the structure is now simpler, withholding is more predictable than under Oklahoma's previous multi-bracket system.
No local income taxes in Oklahoma
Oklahoma cities and counties do not impose a separate income or wage tax. The three state brackets are the complete income-tax picture above federal and FICA. Pre-tax retirement and health contributions reduce Oklahoma taxable wages just as they do for federal purposes.
Rates & brackets
Oklahoma's 2026 income tax rates
Oklahoma taxes income in graduated brackets. Only the income inside each band is taxed at that band's rate. Here is the 2026 schedule for a single filer and for married filing jointly:
| Single: taxable income | Rate | Married filing jointly: taxable income |
|---|---|---|
| $0 – $3,750 | 0% | $0 – $7,500 |
| $3,750 – $4,900 | 2.5% | $7,500 – $9,800 |
| $4,900 – $7,200 | 3.5% | $9,800 – $14,400 |
| $7,200 and up | 4.5% | $14,400 and up |
Deduction plus personal exemptions applied: $7,350 (single), $14,700 (married filing jointly).
How the calculator withholds: Oklahoma's 2026 withholding tables start at 0% on the first $10,100 of wages for a single employee ($20,200 married) after $1,000 per allowance; the table above shows that as the $6,350 / $12,700 standard deduction plus a 0% band. Oklahoma has no head-of-household table, so the single rates apply.
